Here follows an introduction to the religion of Avatari. Bold text indicates a quote from the Holy Scripture, the bible of the church. Remember that Avatari is the belief of the Militia; we do not claim that it perfectly matches classical Ultima Lore. The Militia Templi has its own view on the subject of Creation, and will claim that everyone else lies.

Brief Story of Creation
In the beginning Higher Being created the heavens and the earth of Sosaria and everything in them. On the sixth day he created the human race in his own holy, spiritual image. He made male and female with a body and a soul. He created the body of the first man, Zog, from the dust of the ground, and the first woman, Evah, from his rib. He then joined them in marriage and blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill Sosaria and subdue it. When Higher Being's creation was completed, it was perfect and holy.

Higher Being gave Zog and Evah one command to obey to show their love and respect for him. They must uphold the Seven Virtues. If they didn't, they would die. Guardian, originally a holy angel who had turned against Higher Being to do evil, felt envy as he saw Higher Being's beautiful humans, and created the body of the first elf, Awindar, in his own unholy image. He told his demon to tell Evah about the eighth virtue, Compassion. Awindar did so, and Evah, prepared to face only Good, believed it. She told Zog about Compassion, and they began to practice the eighth virtue. Their disobedience separated them from Higher Being and enslaved them to Evil and sin; unable to fight Guardian because of the Compassion they felt for him.

Because of sin, the Higher Being told Zog to cast the Spell of Armageddon. Zog and Evah died both spiritually and physically; but Higher Being let two of their many children survive, and Guardian saved two of his children without Higher Being knowing it. The human nature of Zog's children became corrupt and inclined only to evil because of the elves present in the world, and they passed their sinful nature on to their children and to the following generations. In time they died. Their bodies returned to the dust of the ground. Through their sin they also became subject to eternal death, an everlasting damnation in hell.

Avatar and Mondain
While the wages of sin is death, the gift of Higher Being is eternal life in Lord Avatar. Higher Being in his mercy provided the humans a Saviour from Guardian, sin, death, and hell--- Avatar. Immediately after Zog's and Evah's fall into sin, Higher Being promised this Saviour. Higher Being said the Saviour would be their descendant. He told Guardian in their hearing: I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy offspring and hers; he will crush thy head, and thou wilt strike his heel. The archangel of the west, Hydros, announced Avatar's coming birth to Mariah: Thou wilt be with child and give birth to a son, and thou art to give him the name Avatar. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Holy Spectre will come upon thee, and the power of the Most High will overshadow thee. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of Higher Being. Guardian heard Hydros's words, and sent a personal incarnation to Sosaria to battle Avatar. His name was Mondain. The personal incarnation of Guardian reshaped many of Guardian's elves, and thus drows, orcs, trolls, ratmen and other creatures were born. On the Final Day Mondain was slain by Avatar, his unholy diamond scattered, and Britannia, as we know it today, was founded out of one of the diamond shards.

The Saviour, Avatar, was born to redeem all humans from the guilt of their sins and to free them from the punishment of hell. Avatar was born under Higher Being's law to fulfil it perfectly for the humans as their substitute. This he did as he throughout his life he remained without sin. Higher Being credits his perfect righteousness to all that believe in him.

Higher Being charged the many sins of the humans against the sinless Avatar. Avatar gave his innocent life as the one perfect sacrifice to pay for their sins. On the third day Higher Being raised Avatar from the dead. His resurrection assured humans their sins were forgiven. They had been saved from hell and will rise to live forever in heaven.

The nature of Higher Being
The Holy Scripture reveals Higher Being is one god in three distinct persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spectre. The Saviour, Avatar, is the Son of Higher Being. He became human. He is both Higher Being and man in one person. He is truly divine, being Higher Being in every respect. He is also truly human, being the descendant of Zog and Evah and like humans in every way except without sin.

Faith in Higher Being
Higher Being offers this forgiveness, salvation, and everlasting life to all humans. Only those who believe in Avatar, however, receive these blessings and are saved. Avatar is the only Saviour. Faith alone in him saves. Avatar said: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one cometh to the Father except through me. Higher Being's word states: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Whoever believeth and is baptised will be saved, but whoever doth not believe will be condemned. This is the very basis of the Cleric's work, to baptise all humans on Britannia. More on this can be found in the Cleric section.

Religious texts
In the chapel, you can find a numerous of books, each with quotes from the Holy Scripture. It is recommended that members of the church read as many of those as possible.
